A product page for every code — no website required
A code has to point somewhere. If there's no product page to send shoppers to — or none you'd choose — turn on a hosted page and we serve one at the scan URL itself: your product, its details, and every link you've added. Fully customisable, cookie-free, and switchable back to a redirect at any time.

What a shopper sees
The default page shows the product's name, brand and photo, every link you have added to the product — instructions, recipes, recall notices, your shop — and the canonical GS1 Digital Link for the scan. Because the page is rendered per scan, it also shows what the specific code carries: the batch or lot number, a serial number, a best-before or expiry date. Two units from different production runs get pages that say so, from one printed design.
What a page does that fine print can't
Some of what a pack has to say is fixed by law, and a scan does not change that. The argument for putting information behind a code as well is not that it lets you print less. It is that a web page can do things a printed panel physically cannot.
- It can be read aloud. A screen reader will speak the page. Nothing can read six-point type on a curved bottle aloud.
- It can be made bigger. Someone who cannot read small print can zoom, or set their phone to a larger type size, and the page reflows to fit.
- It can be searched. A shopper checking for one allergen can find it in a second, instead of reading forty Latin names in a row.
- It can be translated. A phone browser will put the page into the reader's language. A printed panel stays in whatever language it was printed in.
- It can be corrected. If something is wrong, or the recipe changes, the page changes. The pack already in someone's cupboard does not have to.
For a shopper with low vision, an allergy, or a language other than the one on the pack, that is not a marketing improvement. It is the difference between information that exists and information they can actually use.
Make it entirely yours
The page is 100% customisable. Start with our built-in template, or duplicate it in the dashboard and edit the layout, colours and copy with a live preview. Every value from the scan is available to your template, so you decide what appears, in what order, in your brand's voice — and one template can serve your whole range.
Nothing watching your shoppers
Hosted pages set no cookies, run no scripts and collect no user data from the person scanning. That is enforced, not promised: pages are sanitised and served with a policy that blocks scripts outright, so there is nothing on the page that could track anyone. Scan analytics stay aggregate — how many, where, what device — with no cookies and no stored IP addresses, same as everywhere on 2D Ready.
As changeable as a redirect
- Turn it on where you want it. Per product, or as your organisation default for the whole catalogue at once.
- Choose its reach. Answer just the plain product scan — lot and serial overrides keep redirecting — or every scan of the code.
- Change your mind any time. Swap between hosted page and redirect exactly as you'd edit a destination link, with codes already on shelves following along. Your stored destinations are kept, so switching back restores them.
Common questions
What does a hosted page show?
By default: your product's name, brand and photo, the details carried in the specific code scanned (batch or lot, serial number, dates), every link you've added to the product, and the canonical GS1 Digital Link for the scan. A shopper scanning a specific batch sees that batch's details without you building anything.
Can I change how it looks?
Completely — the page is 100% customisable. Start from our built-in template, or duplicate it and make it yours: layout, colours, wording, what appears and what doesn't. You edit templates in the dashboard with a live preview, and every value from the scan — product fields, batch, serial, dates — is available to the template, so different codes can show different content.
Do hosted pages set cookies or track shoppers?
No. The page sets no cookies, runs no scripts and collects no user data from the person scanning. Scan analytics stay what they are everywhere on 2D Ready: aggregate counts with no cookies and no stored IP addresses.
Can I switch between a hosted page and a redirect?
At any time, in either direction — it is the same kind of change as editing a destination link, and it applies immediately to codes already printed. Your stored destination URLs are kept while a page is enabled, so switching back restores them exactly.
Does the page show for every scan, or just the plain product scan?
Your choice. By default it answers the plain product scan, while lot and serial overrides — a recall, say — keep redirecting. Or flip one setting and the page shows for every scan, including ones matching a lot or serial rule.
Can I turn it on for my whole catalogue at once?
Yes. Set a hosted page as your organisation default and every product without a setting of its own shows it, using each product's name, brand and image where set and your organisation's defaults where not. Any product can still override with its own page, template or redirect.
Does any of this affect the checkout?
No. A till reads the GTIN offline from the code and never sees the page, exactly as with a redirect. The hosted page only changes what a shopper's phone opens.
Is it free?
Hosted pages are included on every plan, including Free — ten products, no card required. Pro is £10/month when you need more, with your own domain on the codes included.
