Why a 2D barcode for cosmetics?
A cosmetics pack has to show a full INCI ingredient list and more, and there is rarely room to do it well. A GS1 Digital Link QR code moves the detail to a page a shopper can actually read — ingredients, how to use it, and the claims and certifications behind the brand — behind a single scan.
Because the code can carry a batch number, you can tie period-after-opening and batch information to each run, and change what shoppers see without reprinting.
It still scans as a normal product barcode at the checkout, and it sets you up for the direction European product-transparency rules are heading — more detail, accessible from the pack itself.

Does this help with EU product-transparency rules?
It puts product information one scan from the pack, which is the direction European rules are moving. We can't give regulatory advice, but a GS1 Digital Link is the standard those schemes are built on.
